The Roots of San Juan Capistrano Reach Deep into California History

 Historic Los Rios District

A protected sycamore at the town's entrance is over 300 years old.

The Mission San Juan Capistrano, founded in 1796 by Father Junipero Serra, is the birthplace of Orange County.

The great stone church within the Mission has been called "the most breathtaking historical landmark in North America."

And a 200 year old annual celebration, known around the world, continues to this day when the swallows return to San Juan Capistrano.

Our community is a monument to California's multi-cultural history, embracing Spanish, Mexican, Native American, European and Asian heritage.
